Cross Border Stones Kielder Stone from Deadwater Walking & Running Route

A circular walk to visit the Keilder Stone from Deadwater.

Deadwater is 22 miles south of Hawick, on the Border between Scotland and England. This is a circular walking route rising up forest tracks to Deadwater Fell. At the summit you are uninterrupted views across the English-Scottish border to the hills of the Lake District hills from one of the highest summits in the area. Following the ridge line crossing peat bog (not for the inexperienced).

Taking a detour from the ridge line following the border fence-line takes you to the iconic Keilder Stone. Retracing you steps back to the ridge line, you will continue on to peel fell passing two cairns and descend from the moorland along the path that follows the border line.

This takes you past the monument of the source of the Tyne.
